Vintage 2006.

A - Pours a dark chocolate brown color that is completely opaque. What little bit of head you get on the pour is dark expresso brown. Now there are only bubbles around the edge of the glass.

S - Could smell this one as I was pouring it. Big and rich. Huge dark roasted malts bring out expresso and dark chocolate. Some cocoa and baker's chocolate. Bourbon aging is here, but not overpowering. It provides some light booziness and vanilla tones.

T - malty goodness. Big black and chocolate malts are working their magic here. Roasted expresso beans. Tons of chocolate flavors with dark chocolate, cocoa, baker's chocolate and a bit of chocolate cake. A slight booziness comes in and is immediately followed by the flavors that the barrel aging brought into play. Vanilla bean and light bourbon. Bourbon stays on the tongue long after the swallow.

M - Big, rich, and chewy. Light carbonation that is smooth.

D - Loved this brew. Might even like it more than the GI Imperial IPA. Bourbon is a highlight, rather than providing too much heat and taking away from the rest of the beer. After the first sip, I just want another.
