Served chilled and poured into my Duvel tulip glass.
Appearance is very good. Dark orange brew with a thick foamy head. Tons of thick lacing coating the glass.
Smell is good. Heavy aroma of juicy grapefruit and citrus hops. Light malt presence is detected in the background where it belongs.
Taste is good. Large grapefruit and tongue-numbing bitterness. This DIPA is all about the grapefruit and bittering hops. Alcohol and small caramel malt flavors come through in the finish. Barely any balance in this one.
Mouthfeel is good. Robust and full (for the style) on the palet with lively carbonation and an oily, slick finish.
Drinkability is good. I could easily have another few of these.
Overall: One of the better beers Flying Dog makes. An enjoyable DIPA that hop-heads would enjoy.
