11% ABV, for the record. Pours an old-penny copper with a head that lsts briefly before settling down to a lace. Vast, vast deep maltiness in the nose - toffee, alcohol/sherry, faint graham cracker toastiness, an aroma a malt maven could happily drown in...

if he didn't drink it all first. Starts with an immensely round (it literally feels that way) malt hit, just full of dark fruit, hints of tropical fruit, and toffee right off the rip. There's abitterness here, to be sure, balancing a bit before the alcohol kicks in. The alcohol grows more pronounced as it warms, as expected, but underneath it all is that juicy, chewy maltiness. Finishes clean, slightly sweet but not quite cloying, a lingering alcoholic alefruit on the tongue. The alcohol is somewhat pronounced, slightly knocking the otherwise chewy mouthfeel.

A very nice job on a very big beer.
