Thanks to Joey for the opportunity to try this beer.

Nice dark amber color with a dense inch of creamy foam. Great retention, and some lacing as well.

Aroma of toasted malts with slightly spicy, earthy, and grassy hops. Some biscuit and brown sugar sweetness comes through. Very nice combination of malts, a deep toasted character with some biscuit, brown sugar sweetness, and some faint fruitiness from the yeast. More on the malty side, the hops are there but just to bring some balance. As the beer settles I pick up more aromas of fruit like raisins, and sweet prunes. A touch floral in the aroma as well. I really like the delicate toast/brown sugar aroma with the floral and spicy hops in this beer.

The taste is very similar to the aroma, toasted malts upfront with biscuit in the middle, a bit of caramel near the finish but the earthy and slightly spicy hops push it away. A good dry and low to medium bitterness cleans the palate. I’m also tasting quite a bit of fruitiness from what seems to be both the malts and the yeast. A little more caramel or dark sugar flavor comes through. From the first sip I got a few hints of citrus flavors from the hops, delicate orange and maybe tangerine. Floral and a touch herbal hop flavor in the finish.

Medium carbonation which works quite well with this beer, just a tad syrupy upon entering but the dryness and slight bitterness in the finish balances the beer well.

Very tasty, I’m liking it more as I go along.
