A - Pour produces a nice inch and a half of sturdy looking cocoa colored foam. It's made up of varying sized bubbles and is showing no signs of going anywhere anytime soon. Sticky lacing clings to the sides of the glass. Body is super dark brown, but maybe not quite black, and completely opaque.

S - Nice big roasty nose hits right away. Light coffee combines nicely with the roastiness. Chocolate hits with both dark and milk varieties. Touch of vanilla and oak.

T - Lots of nice flavors here. Nice fresh roasted coffee flavor seems to hit first. Definitely coffee and not espresso here. Milk chocolate is next. There's definitely that bit of lactose flavor there. Vanilla comes in with this chocolate to make a tasty combination. There's just a touch of bourbon flavor here, which is nice as it doesn't overpower the rest of the flavors going on in the brew. Light bitterness, partially from the coffee roast comes in and lingers for a bit. Finishes smooth and fairly clean, with just a touch of bitterness leftover.

M - Full bodied and oh so smooth.

Overall - If there is one thing that I really appreciate with some of these Deschutes beers, it's the blending of the bourbon barrel aged and regular. It allows you to get the bourbon flavors without the other nuances of the beer being overshadawed. This one is no exception.
