A - Pours a rich, dark brown body that is completely opaque. No light getting through this one. Head is about a half inch tall, light cocoa colored, and is made up of uniform sized tight bubbles. Reduces within a minute to a clump in the middle and a ring around the glass. Not surprising with a barrel aged brew.

S - Smells as if the barrel aging was done with a wonderful balance. Bourbon is there, but doesn't overpoower the rest. Big dark roasty malts bring out chocolate, espresso. Hints of vanilla.

T - Been too long since I have had a barrel aged RIS. Bourbon is right up front, but not overtaking the other flavors in the beer. Vanilla and slight oakiness also present from the barrel aging. Beneath this are the big roasty dark malt flavors. Rich chocolate combines nicely with espresso. Slight alcohol twinge.

M - Full bodied and smooth. Carbonation could use a couple swirls to smooth it down a bit more.

O - Very nice brew here from Central Waters. Bourbon doesn't take over the beer so you can't taste the rest of what's going on. I will be buying a bunch of this every year.
