White. Picked up a bottle while in Indiana. Pours a hazy straw yellow color with a light amber orange hue throughout. A bubbly white head with limited retention and lacing.
The nose has a lot of the wit characteristic but also has a lot more going on. A nice wheat base with a light spiciness on the back end. Some nice lemon zest aroma but along with that is a funk plum and fig notes. More of an estery aroma but not overly yeasty. The spices come out as well. Some limited coriander, would like more, but there also is a lemon grass and lavender. Almost like a candle.
The taste is similar. The lemon zest comes out a bit more than the nose. Some lighter orange notes as well. The wheat backs off but is still noticeable. There is a more of pepper taste that comes out but blends oddly with the distinct lavender/lemon grass notes. There is a light herbal note that I think is coming from the hops. Some yeast and a light fig note but limited versus the nose. Some chalky notes into the finish.
The body is moderate but has a milder finish. Some carbonic bite but not over the top. Overall some nice positive notes with the wheat character and pepper, but some off notes as well with the esters and phenolic. Ok.
