Sam's Downers Grove

Tripel Karmeliet pours a surprisingly clear straw golden with hints of orange around the edges. Numerous big carbonation bubbles rise from every surface of the glass. 1+ finger pure white head formed on the pour and stayed right where it's at. Each sip left thick drink lines. World class looking brew.

The aroma is mouthwatering. It's light and subtle but hugely complex. Candi sugar leads the way but is eased aside by mounds of golden fruits. Pear, apple skins and golden raisins. Lightly toasted malts hide in the background along with a hint of the wheat used to brew. Spicy alcohol presence really livens things up. Wonderful aroma!

The flavor goes hand in hand with the aroma. Pears, apples, the golden raisins again, and apricot. When I smell and drink this tripel all I can think of is a basket of this freshly picked fruit gleaming in the sunlight. Funny? I know, but true. Perfect candi sugar sweetness with a subtle spicy alcohol to really open things up.

Body is on the lighter side of medium and becomes creamy and airy when it hits the tongue. Massaging carbonation.

This is a beer I could drink all day long which is something I can't say about a lot of Belgians. The glass in front of me is disappearing far to quickly.

I'm not the most expierenced with tripels but I've sampled a fair amount and so far this is the top of the line for me. World class beer that is easy to find. This will be in my fridge from now on.
