Batch 2009-1, bottle #11925

Not a gusher, but I thought it was going to be when the cork about exploded out of the bottle. Huge head of giant off-white bubbles atop a cloudy light amber body.

Awesome smell. The brett is all over the place, even from several feet away. The brett and sourness are the dominating aromas, but behind them you get some real traditional saison smells; yeasty funkiness being the most prevalent.

Whoa, definitely not what I was expecting from the smell. The taste is very subdued and creamy. Very much a saison, and not so much brett or sourness. I'm a little disappointed that it isn't more in-your-face, but this is a damn fine beer. It is light and refreshing; just a hint of spiciness and alcohol, finishing with a lingering yeast flavor at the end.

Just the right amount of carbonation makes this one tingle the tongue and make you want more.

I had some more expectations for this in regards to the sourness, and perhaps it will develop over time if given the opportunity to age, but as it stands today it is a fine saison and very drinkable.
