Aptly named. Pours a very dark brown color different hues of black and red hues throughout. A little dark then say a typical bock style but ok. A soft off white head with good retention and lacing through the slow tasting.

The aroma is not at all surprising influenced with chocolate. Almost a coco powder chocolate aroma. A distinct Munich malt but light and more of a generic malt smell backs up the beer. Some minor yeast notes with light plum, but almost to clean. Would have liked to see more of the bock character come out.

The taste is a bit sweet even for bock standards. Although it is a chocolate bock so eh. Gives it more of a milky sweetness that leaves a lactic after taste. Some notes of generic malt backs up the chocolate well, but not very distinct on the Munich tones. A nice backing with some complexity but would like more of the German malt notes to come out. There is a bitterness that enhances the chocolate notes as well. Very clean yeast, brewed very nicely.

The body is sweet and the body if full. Maybe a bit too sweet, but there is an astringency that lingers into the finish. Overall a very interesting beer.
