Thanks go to kryptic for this one!

Pours a deep, brassy color, a shade or two towards the coppery side. Pours slightly syrupy looking- this I love. The vigorous pour reveals one finger plus of creamy, tan head that decides it will hang with me a bit. When it finally does reduce, there is a nice collar aound the glass, due to the slow, active carbonation on the rise. Some lacing.

Aroma is of sticky citrus hops - tangerine, orange peel, lemon zest. The honey really comes through, very pronounced, along with sweet malts. Totally into this now... (as usual).

The hop bitterness is beginning to subside with this batch of Hopslam - but it still damn tasty! It takes on a different kind of balance now. The big citrus taste is still there, it's just a more "gentle" slap across the face. I believe it allows for the malt backbone to show itself a bit more, lending to a greater balance here. The honey in the taste is quite evident, and pairs itself with the alcohol warmth of this in a spectacular way - and it is this aspect that carries through the lingering finish. Phenomenal.

Medium to full in body, smooth, syrupy and creamy in mouthfeel. Excellent carbonation for this style.

Fresh, this is a hoppy beast. With a bit of age, still a beast, but a beast with a greater sense of balance. This is truly a pleasure to sip on any time of the year... a true icon of the beer world.
Must Try!
