Surprised I hadn't reviewed this one already. I know Beagle sent me a couple. Maybe the "other" site lost my review. That's my story anyway.
Batch 8285, Feb 2008
Color is medium to dark orange, Good head, not a lot of bubbles. Smell is all hops, with citrus, sweetness, and only a little pine. Taste is only slightly bitter at first, but the hops stand out. A bit more muted than the smell led me to believe. Balanced maybe. Malts stand out at the end of the taste. Sure the hops are there, but I don't feel "slammed" right now..... Feel is good and sticks around for a little while.
Overall, it's very good. Not sure I'd rank it up with the very best DIPAs, but if not, it's only a step behind. I think the biggest knock for me, and it's a personal thing here, is that it's not as "oily" as the other top ones. The feel is different. Also, I'd like the citrus hops to stand out a bit more. But seriously, that's the only things I can find with this one. And those aren't much. This is a great bottle from a great brewer. Don't think twice about getting it if you can.
