This is the first of a 6'er of the 2008 batch that I'll age the others for a while. So this one is fresh.

The Batch ID that you entered '8729', is a Bell's Expedition Stout. Your Bell's Expedition Stout was packaged on September 17, 2008.

Color is basically black, not much foam and the pour was thick. Aroma has a slight sweetness, with some cocoa in there. I get some other chocolate notes too. Taste is a little sharp, maybe due to the fresh factor. It's good, but you do get that 10+% alcohol in there at first. After that, you get a strong bitter chocolate and a decent roasted grains flavor. Finally you get that coffee taste with a slight bitterness. Feel is thick, thick, thick. And very nice.

Overall, Beagle will be happy to know that this is everything as advertised. I've had a few bad experiences with a couple other Bell's bottles (Third Coast Beer, and amazingly Oberon). But this one is all it is cracked up to be. Much like other strong, dark and thick RIS bottles, this one seems likely to age very very well.
