This was the first brew I had at the Maduro's pre-Great Taste Party. What a way to start.
A - Big, thick mahogony body with a slightly red tint to it. Cloudy, not letting a whole lot of light through. Light beige head had good retention and super sticky lacing.
S - Great smelling beer that wasn't served over-chilled, as you get sometimes. Barrel aging is obvious with a bit of char, and loads of vanilla and boozy bourbon. Great deep molasses, toffee and caramel. Some dark fruit in the background.
T - As my wife said when she took a sip, it's like slightly thinner molasses. Huge molasses flavors that cover the tongue. Toffee and caramel are present, but in a supporting role. Bourbon comes in, bringing a bigger boozy flavor along with some vanilla. Slightly bitter towards the finish.
M - Big, thick, and chewy. Smooth. Wonderful.
D - I absolutely loved this beer. Could've easily had more, but there was too much good beer to drink.
