Vintage 2005.
A - Body pours super dark brown, bordering on black. Opaque. Starts with a one finger dark tan head that is reduced to whisps on the surface and a ring around the glass within a minute or so.
S - Big and smoky. Smells a lot like smoked salmon. Smoky, roasty, malts. I can get just a bit of chocolate in the back here, but this is really all about the smoke.
T - Very much the same as the smell, but not quite as overpowering. I have had a couple smoked beers in the past that the smoked fish taste made me drainpour them, but this one is much more pleasant. Toasty, smoked malts, along with a touch of coffee and dark chocolate.
M - Medium bodied with light carbonation.
D - I am shocked that I like this given the smell. Becomes increasingly easier to drink with each sip. Very nice.
Thanks to Westsidethreat for the bottle.
