A - Pour gives a thick, dense head that is a little more than an inch tall and tan in color. It's like one mass it's bubbles are so small and tight together. Thick, sticky lacing on the sides of the glass. Body is a brilliant garnet hue when brought up to the light. It's a little bit hard to see through it's so dark, but it's clean.

S - Big aroma here. Tons of fruits playing about. Dates, raisins, cherries, and figs all come to mind. There is a distinct booziness in the aroma, but it plays nicely with everything else. Rich caramel and toffee.

T - Huge roasty caramel malt flavors right up front. This lingers on the tongue for a bit until some toffee comes and plays along with the caramel. A touch of chocolate? Fruitiness is there, but not nearly as prevelant as it is in the aroma. Cherries and raisins mostly. Some bitterness comes in and stays on the tongue all the way through into the aftertaste. Some alcohol comes on towards the end with just a slight burn to the nostrils.

M - Big and chewy, this is a big beer and it let's you know it. Carbonation is right on.

Overall - A great barleywine here. This one is sturdy enough that I could certainly see this one doing well in the cellar for at least 5 years. The new batch is coming out soon. Do yourself a favor and get some.
