From the site: "An unfiltered chocolately German style Schwartz bier brewed with Spalt hops Pilsner and Munich malts."
One of my new favorites from Willibrew, I believe this is the first run for this recipe. A healthy skim milk & coffee head tops this black hued beer, leaving a thin ring around the glass. The nose is chocolate, semi sweet to bitter baker's chocolate, but not over the top. I also pick up that crispness from the pilsner malts added to this one.
The pilsner malts really add this nice clean, crisp malt flavor to the brew, while the chocolate malts add a dry roasted chocolate note that works really well. The body is perfect for this beer, the chocolate malts adding again a bit more body without really overpowering the pilsner. So yeah....goes down reaaaal easy. No hint of the booze either. And I burped chocolate!
