Review from 2003 - Pours a nice golden orangey color with a heavy white loose frothy head about two fingers high, leaves minimal lace in strings. Smell is super nice floral aroma with good amounts of crispy citrus with a bit of spice. Taste is very smooth with complex layers of hard candy, bright citrus of lemon, orange, and grapefruit, with a sweet caramel malt backbone and a note of spiceyness. Feel is full bodied and solid. One hell of great offering of the style, impressive.

Pours a hazy, gold color. Small head, but dense, and it disappeared quickly. Little to no lacing.

On the nose... what to say but SPICE! Cloves, honey, a hint of fruit (bananas??). Smells very sweet, I am assuming candy sugars...

It is sweet! Taste the sugars, honey, a little citrus, and spice. Biscuity malts. Well balanced, as I get very little alcohol vapor sensation. Clean finish, with nice malty aftertaste. This one could sneak up on a person...

Mouthfeel is full, not syrupy - creamy maybe. Carbonation is active on the tongue.

This is very drinkable, but the ABV would kick my ass. WTF, that's a Tripel for ya... nicely done.
Recommended.

12 oz bottle

golden yellow ith almost no head.

smell is typical belgian yeasty ester and slightly over-ripe bananas.

Typical run of the mill belgian bready yeast with some banana, clove, and maybe even some strange coriander type spice to it. the finish is slightly peppery with a slight alcohol burn.

medium bodied mouthfeel but not carbonated enough for me.

This was easy to drink but too sweet, likely due to lack of carbonation in part, and I could not drink more than one at a time.

Would not seek this one out again.

Reviewed from notes, on tap at the Muddy Pig.

A - Bright apricot/golden colored body with a slight chill haze to it. Starts with one inch of white, creamy looking foam. Leaves a nice film of lacing down the sides of the glass.

S - Big and fruity. Belgian candi sugar. Strawberry, apple and pear. Sweet pale malts.

T - Sweet and sugary, wth big time yeasty flavors. Light Belgian spice with nutmeg and cardamom. Pear and apple. Belgian candi sugar.

M - Big and thick. On the light side of full bodied. Smooth and slightly creamy.

D - Nice American take on a Belgian Tripel.
