Pours a deep murky brown/black with tons of foamy brown head atop the brew. The foam slowly settles and leaves lots of sticky lacing clinging to the walls of the glass.

Smells of sweet dark malts. Fruity with lots of raisin and fig. Dried berry is big in the aroma. Yeast esters bring more fruity notes. Very nice smelling brew.

Very carbonated with a nice prickle on the tongue. Medium/dark malt body has a nice sweetness that one can tell has calmed with a couple years on it. Touch of light toffee in there. Lots of dried fruit here. Berries, figs and a hint of raisin all come across along with nice yeast notes on the aftertaste. Fairly easy to drink with no sign of the brews 9% ABV in the aroma, flavor, or aftertaste. Aged very nicely. Great price too for a nice dark Belgian brew.

Nice brown bottle with gold print directly on the bottle.

A - Dark brown, almost black body that only allows a little bit of light to get through. Big oatmeal colored head with great lacing.

S - Big dark and red fruits (plum, raisin, cherry). Dark candy sugar. Smells very much like an "Abbey Ale".

T - Tastes almost exactly how it smells. Lots of fruit with cherries, plums, raisins, and pear. Dark candy sugar provides a nice sweetness.

M - Smooth and creamy. Nice full body.

D - This is a sipper, but I had no problem finishing the 750ml bottle. Trader Joe's did themselves a favor getting Unibroue to do this one for them. Great value.

Very dark brown color, slightly murky. The pour brings on a cool display of cascading bubbles, very good looking foamy head. Flavor is smooth and malty, burnt somethin, chocolatey. The alcohol comes through after the brw warms a bit. Overall, a very good brew.
