Received this delight from Gibby out in Philly. I’ve heard good things and I really enjoyed the first bottle I tried. Drank from my Ithaca Nonic Pint glass.
Appearance- Pours a crystal clear light yellow with hints of orange and a big frothy bright white head. Plenty of rich lacing strewn about my glass from the nice cap and collar.
Smell- Nice and fruity with a touch of pineapple and grapefruit. Actually the more I smell the more that grapefruit pith really comes out. Maybe a touch of orange peel but for the most part the grapefruit dominates. A light touch of caramel malts but not a whole lot in the nose.
Taste- Starts with a grassy bitter bite that quickly turns fruity and lush. The grapefruit I got in the nose is definitely in full force in the taste as well. It’s bitter and pithy with hints of passion fruit and peach. Maybe a touch more sweetness that I usually like but it’s okay here for some reason. There’s a doughy sort of toast in the background from the malt but it’s pretty tame. The 7.5% is nowhere to be found.
Mouthfeel- Nice feel here. The beer is full bodied with nice light carbonation and feels oily and smooth.
Drinkability- Really nice beer that is extremely easy drinking and pretty damned tasty. I’m definitely not always a fan of Troegs IPA’s but they did a great job this time. Thanks much Jeff, mucho enjoyable!
