From January 23, 2007:

Thanks to Furley for dropping off a growler of this as a surprise. And a welcome surprise at that. I'm still dubious as to whether they make any decent beer in Green Bay though...

I'll start by noting that I am by nature a fan of all German styles, as I grew up there and started off my drinking "career" at the age of 7 with a large bottle of some German wheat beer that I forget the name of. Fun times. So a Kolsch is always welcome in my house. And this one is a good if slightly thin example of the style.

Color is golden, as expected. Smell is slight and barely notable. Has that sweet and grassy and ever so slight smell of hops. Not a thing in there is overwhelming though, as it should be for the style. The first taste was a bit thin, even for this style. I don't want to say watery, but maybe. Very slight hops taste, with some other mild flavors -- grass maybe, almost like cutting the grass on an early summer day and getting a taste/smell of fresh cut grass. Feel is thin. But that's the style. Live with it.

Pretty good. Easy beer to drink, given the lightness of the style. This one is slightly thin even for a pale German beer. But it's still a good example and you should be able to put down several. Seriously, if I can put down half a growler in one sitting then it's just that easy. Cheers.
