Cool label showing a Buckingham Palace guard with bad teeth, a peace sign, and a double decker bus in the background in front of Big Ben, just in case the name didn't club you over the head. Pours a proper medium copper with a thin head. Toasty slightly caramelly malt and earthy, dried leaf hop aromas - smells like an ESB.

Starts with a dryish toasty maltiness that is really enjoyable and screams "session" - faint balancing caramel and red delicious apple (for lack of a better term, but not quite it) sweetness almost matches the firm, earthy, veddy British bitterness. Wafting leafy earthy hop aromatics round out the profile. Very slight diacetyl as it warms - nothing like a Ringwood level, just very faint, and a distant nuttiness as well. Very clean, moderate mouthfeel. Finishes dry, bitter, balanced.

Very likeable beer, especially if you like bracingly bitter English styles. More of a pale ale-ESB hybrid. This beer on cask would be nigh on perfect. Worth searching out if you are a fan of English ales.
