Pours a nice deep caramel with a reddish tint. Big foamy off-white/tan head atop. The foam settles slowly and leaves the walls of the sniffer coated in wispy lacing.
Warm caramel and wheat up front. Bit of fruity hops punch through with a hint of berry accompanying some distant grapefruit. Touch of pine and a little light toffee. Dash of biscuit at the end.
Nice and thick like one would expect. This brew coats the tongue and brings a smooth and delicious caramel malt first. It's soon followed by a bit of fruity hops. Nice grapefruit and a hint of lemon. Bit of mellow pine stickiness and a hint of light toffee. Nice wheat smoothness and a bit of it on the aftertaste. Creamy caramel is still there on the tongue after each sip.
The alcohol only slightly makes itself known in the flavor and isn't present in the aroma. Just enough to remind you that you're drinking a 10.4% beer but not enough to bring any warmth. I'm sure it's mellowed nicely from when it was fresh back at Dark Lord Day 2008. One of the best wheat wines I've had.
