deep, dark brown with a nice tight tan head. poured cold and let stand for about 40 minutes. smells like every bit of a quadrupel but looks like a porter. i had read reviews about the outstanding aromas but this didn't appeal to me a great deal. it was fine but not fantastical as i'd expected.
nuts, cocoa, much of the typical Belgian flavor. it's velvety smooth and hides that 12% kick very very well.. i was gulping this one down. which explains why the review comes a day later .
this is a very very good beer and as far as "christmas beers" that i've had.. this is the best by far. a nice American Belgian. i would definitely pick this up again.
