Another Canadian treat courtesy of grub, thanks!

Wow, a very dark looking porter, looks almost like a stout. An inch of mocha colored foam forms the head of this fine looking beer.

The first aroma I get is minty chocolate, interesting. I have never had a porter with this aroma, mostly a mint, spicy, chocolate and some roasted malts. The aroma reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream. There’s also some cinnamon and other spices. Not your typical aroma for a porter, I think it would be more appropriate in a stout, but I like it.

The taste is a nice mixture of toast and roasted malts upfront and then the mint chocolate and warm milk make up the finish. Mint chocolate and toast lingers in the after taste for a few moments. Later on I pick up some more bitter chocolate flavors, graham crackers, and roasted malts.

Mouthfeel is medium, a little watery, but this is where I know I’m not drinking a stout.

A very interesting porter.
