Poured nice and black. Had a strong coffee aroma and there was some alcohol in there too. I thought the coffee was a little overwhelming and dominated the drink a bit much. Having said that, I still really liked it.

Old Review
Got this in a four pack of 12oz bottles from Midtown in Nashville, TN. Poured into a pint tumbler.

A: Poured a beautiful opaque black. I thought there was going to be no head but it built out of nowhere and gave me a good 3 fingers.

S: Came out as a nice sweet, roasted malt with tones of chocolate, coffee, alcohol, and spicy oats.

T: Fantastic. The coffee really shines here, but it doesn't overpower the entire beer. You can taste the chocolate, oats, and malt. The alcohol doesn't hit you until it hits your belly, warming you from the inside out. Awesome.

M: Coats the mouth but isn't too heavy. Leaves a fantastic aftertaste of coffee, with a bitter finish. Carbonation is very mild.

D: I don't have a bad thing to say about this beer. Very accessible for an IMPY. Great flavors and amazing. A huge fan of this one. In my opinion, this is the flagship of Terrapin.

A - really dark, black. no head.

S - big time coffee, some roasty coffee malt. a lil' vanilla.

T - Sweet coffee and background chocolate notes.

M - it has a nice amount of carbonation for the style. Almost a smooth feel and a bigger mouthfeel.

D - I've really been looking forward to trying this beer. I really love coffee beers and this one is awesome. The bottle is from last winter, so I'd imagine its even better fresh!

Thanks to ncvbc for the trade. Vintage 08 on the bottle.

Pours dark with some red highlights. About an inch of chocolate colored foam quickly forms and almost as quickly settles back to the glass.

Aroma is mostly coffee, dark roasted coffee with oats. Chocolate and roasted malts in the background along with some warm milk aroma, cocoa, and a bit of oak and vanilla. The smell is really appetizing; I’m picturing a cup of coffee with frosted flakes.

The coffee taste is just a tad sweeter than expected from the heavily roasted aroma, very good though. Coffee is at the forefront with some chocolate, roasted malts, maybe a bit of dark fruits, and malted milk. A bit of chocolate covered cherries in the finish which I’m thinking it comes from the alcohol.

Excellent amount of carbonation, and not too thick either.

I wouldn’t mind one bit getting a few more of these.

Thanks to coldchill for this brew>

A- Nice looking dark brew. Thin head fades into the darkness of the brew.

S- Coffee and alcohol. Smells stronger than 8%. Some light chocolate, but the coffee is dominate...and thats a good thing.

T- Nice big coffee flavor. Almost too much, and im a coffee fan. Not a lot of complexity here. Very good, but minimal malts, oats here. As Todd would say, "It is COFFEE Oatmeal, not Oatmeal Coffee.

M- Solid

O- There could have been a little more complexity with the other aspects of the brew, but as a coffee fan it works.

A - Black and opaque body with no light getting through. Fizzy cocoa colored head is gone quickly. No lacing and obviously no retention.

S - Big roasty coffee with a coffee bitterness. Toasty dark malts. Can't get anything else behind the coffee.

T - Different than the smell in that the coffee isn't the only thing going on here. Coffee, bold and bitter is very present. Nice rice chocolatey goodness. Almost a smoked taste at the end.

M - Medium full bodied. Good carbonation.

D - This is another above average coffee beer for me. Not bad at all.
