22 oz bottle picked up from Beverage World for $7.99. Served up in a Terrapin barrel glass.

A: Pours up a mahogany hued brown body. Held to the light, deep reds burst through the clear body. The beer has an abundant but lazy carbonation activity feeding a couple fingers of off white head. Retention is decent, and the head falters slowly to a tight half finger that hangs around. Thick, chunky rings of lacing notch the glass.

S: The aroma starts off with a really subtle rye spice making itself known but not overbearing. Then the hops really make a push. There is a citrus punch, boasting light grapefruit, orange, tangerine and various freshly zested citrus skins. There is a wonderful earthiness that blows in out of no where. Oddly, there is a mixed fruit, almost berry like presense that just permeates this beer, and it is glorious. Damn this smells great.

T: This doesn't vary much from the aroma. The citrus hop presense. Orange, tangerines, some grapefruit zest along with every other citrus fruit skin known to man. The beer then picks up the rye spiciness that adds depth to those citrus notes. Then the earthy quality of the rye brings out the extreme earthiness of these hops. The earthiness melds well with the biscuity malts. Those malts are quickly forgotten about when this mixed berry quality jumps in. This berry quality has the faintest tartness to it, but it is incredibly juicy.

M: Medium in mouthfeel with just a perfect carbonation to it. The carb level gives this beer just enough weight but it also somehow really lifts it off the palate. The beer is fruity, juicy and slightly bitter on the palate and it dries out nicely. ABV brings just a little warmth on the throat. Aftertaste is the abundance of fruity qualities this beer has.

OA: This beer is damned tasty. It has a wonderful mixed fruit quality to it that makes this beer incredibly refreshing and it really makes the mouth water for more. Everything about this beer works. After reading up about the hops, I was worried about the rye, but it really works with the hop qualities. The rye just coaxes out everything these hops have to offer. Even so, this beer isn't overly aggressive and doesn't destroy a palate. Just wonderful flavor. I could drink this all day. Fantastic.
