22 oz bottle served up in a dimpled mug.
A: Pours up a root beer brown colored body with a finger of light brown head. Held to the light, the body lights up with some mahogany notes. The beer is crystal clear with a very lazy carbonation moving around within. The head has decent retention, slowly fading to a creamy ring that lasts the entirety of the experience. Lacing is minimal, but a few wisps do grace the glass.
S: The aroma starts off incredibly bready, with a heavy dose of tasted grains and a nice yeasty presence. Light sweet with just a hint of caramel. Hops come in to add touches of spice and earthy notes. Aroma closes out with just a hint of floral.
T: This is a hearty beverage. Like the nose, it starts with a big breadiness quality with notes of sweet, toasted grains. Caramel moves in with a moderate sweetness but fills the palate with flavor. The hops open up toward the end of each sip with floral, grassy, spicy and earthy notes. The hops are just slightly bitter but they mostly provide some balance to the beer.
M: Medium in body with medium to light carbonation level. All the malts in here make this beer chewy and silky on the palate, allowing it to slowly work its way out to the finish. ABV is light to start, but the there is a gentle warmth that builds with each sip on the throat and in the belly. Aftertaste is just a light grassy hop note.
OA: Danktoberfest lives up to the reputation put in place by past Dank Tank brews. This beer is just a big, chewy lager that has a good depth of flavor. Most Oktoberfests leave me wanting more because they tend to come off as one note, but Danktoberfest kicks that trend from the get go. Although this is a big beer with a hefty ABV, it stays light and enjoyable enough to keep each sip coming. Very enjoyable beer and experience.
