12 oz can thanks to my buddy Steve in Dallas. Served up in a Dogfish Head shaped pint.

A: Pours up a nice light amber colored body. Held to the light, a good bit of orange comes out of that amber to brighten things up. Body is clear with a steady carbonation level. The pour built up two fingers of creamy white head. Retention is medium, but it has a huge amount of stick to it. Just sheets the glass all the way down. Good looking IPA.

S: Big and citrusy. Lots of grapefruit and orange zest and meat coming out of here. Its just spot on and very appetizing. Nice floral scent kicking around in here as well. Little bit of pine pops up from time to time. Rounds off with a light caramel malt and sweetness.

T: Pretty much the same as the nose. Citrusy to start. Grapefruit and orange zest, rind and meat. A little bitterness and bite coming out from the hops. Pine is definitely present. Rounds out with the caramel malt notes. Little closer to balanced than hop forward, but still has plenty of hop presence.

M: Medium body wiht a carbonation level that is a little bit on the light side. Its sticky and coating on the palate. Finishes moderately dry. ABV is not noticeable. Aftertaste is all citrus zest.

OA: Very nice and easy drinking IPA. It doesn't have a huge wow factor, just a nice refreshing beer. Minimal gripes: could use a bit more hops bite and touch more carbonation. With that said, I really can't complain at all. If this was available around here, it would be difficult to leave it at the store. Really like it.

Nice brew from Ska – a brewery I had never heard of – this beer could be a carbon copy of Green Flash West Coast IPA with more malt and less hops. The malt is not overwhelming but is not as integrated as the Green Flash. Hoppy nose with a nice amber pour and a sweet malty initial taste followed by some hop bitterness. The finish is smooth and I can see having a few of these in one sitting. Not a great beer, but a good beer.

A soft’ish pour into my 25cl tulip glass produces a three finger thick, light tan colored head that has some staying power to it. The beer is a dark copper, amber color that shows an almost clear, full copper color when held up to the light. The aroma has a herbal and citrus note to it, though it doesn’t jump out of the glass. Notes of Meyer lemon, a touch of lychee as well as some grapefruit zest notes seem to be drowned out at times by a dusty, cracker like malt note. The aroma is not bad, but it certainly isn’t remotely brash like a decent IPA should be.

The beer is fairly dry, but does have some malt body to it that makes it cling to the palate just a bit. Herbal and menthol hop notes define the up front flavors and there is a biting bitterness here as well. The citrus hop notes take a distant backseat, but provide some just noticeable orange flavors. The malt character here is defined by the crystal malt which contributes a touch of toffee, some caramelized grain character and some biscuit like grain notes.

In many ways this seems a bit like a mildly hop focused Amber Ale, it does have a biting bitterness to it, but other than that the hop character is severely lacking.
