Yet another beautifully tasty beverage from Sixpoint via BeerTruth. Great brewery, great buddy. Drank from my Ithaca Excelsior tulip while watching the AFC Championship game (New England vs. Baltimore).

Appearance- Pours a surprisingly light hazy brownish orange with a HUGE two finger sandy head that has some serious staying power (hope it’s not over carbonated). A beautifully random creamy cap and collar remains the entire time with tons of thick lacing.
Smell- No question what this is upon first whiff. It’s fully fledged malt heavy with a big toffee and caramel presence. Lightly toasted with a soft whole grain bread thing going on. Not overly sweet smelling though as a bit of hop is present as well. A touch of citrus sneaks in adding something reminiscent of lemon peel.
Taste- Mmmmm. This beer tastes EXACTLY how it smells. Starts lightly sweet (but not overly so) with subtle touches of brown sugar and toffee. Maybe even a touch of molasses and/or chocolate sneak in but it’s light and fleeting. The beer finishes fairly bitter as I get a smack of grapefruit that really takes the flavor over. The bitter lingers well into the finish along with just a touch of vanilla.
Mouthfeel- Definitely not over carbonated but there is a nice zip of bubbles. Hefty beer overall with a touch of warming in the finish. Hard to believe this beer 10%+ though.
Overall- A very nice American Barleywine that is easy drinking and big on flavor. It’s right in my wheel house of not being sweet and ‘fairly’ balanced. They need to put some of this in a barrel and tuck it in the back of the brewery for a year. Would be awesome. Thanks Adam!
