Tawny copper in color, with a quick, loosely bubbled 2-3 finger lightly kakied cap. With a slow retreat, this gives way to about .375" of dense, creamy goodness. The haze of a quick chill can't hide the visibly active carbonation doing it's thing within. Spotty, delicate lacing leaves documentation of the levels of imbibement (new word!) upon the inner walls of the glass. Very visual, very nice.

Stale, crusty bread and earthy dust reach the nose first, smoothly rounded by balancing notes of orange zest, lemon seed, clove and other herbal spicing. Hints of floral perfume. It's the earthyness that strikes me most however.

Gully washing over the tongue... pepper first? Interesting and not anticipated at this level. This is quickly followed sweet fruits of a NY orchard variety - mixed bushels of bruised apples and sugary pears. Light herb bundles, citrus rinds and malt sugars bring this to an enjoyable close.

Moderate in body. Smooth, airy mouthfeel... approaching syrupy. Carbonation is damn near perfect for this. Decent dryness, with an oily spice to the lingering finish. Warming alcohol burn to the back of the throat.

Fairly complex, with outstanding balance. I say complex because this thing reminds me of a triple in both taste and mouthfeel, with just enough to remind one that yes, this is a Saison. That said, it remains fairly close to style, weird. Enjoyable, yet I would have a hard time calling this a thirst quencher as it can be a bit coarse as it warms up... I like it?!
