Just received a growler of this from northernbrews. I’ve been wanting to try it for quite some time I just wish I had someone to share it with. It’s coming up on 6 days old though so I wanted to drink it soon. Drank from my New Glarus Weizen glass.
Appearance- Pours a surprisingly dark reddish orange with a decent half finger dirty white head. Not much of a cap or collar remains and zero lacing.
Smell- Full of the earthy sweet graham crackers that give this a very cookie like scent. Maybe a touch of chocolate and caramel mixes in for good measure. Very light fruitiness as sort of a lime zest like character is noticeable. For the most part though this brew smells like Cookie Crisp.
Taste- Starts lightly sweet with a VERY unique flavor profile. The lime is noticeable but it’s not a tart lime that you would expect. It’s sort of subtle and the main flavor at the same time. The graham cracker isn’t as graham cracker tasting as it smells as it’s sort of a light caramel, almost butterscotch like quality. Something marshmallow like as well as the finish has some citrus qualities and some sweetness that can get cloying.
Mouthfeel- Medium body that borderlines on thin with very light airy carbonation. Not sure if it’s just the growler but it could use a bit more carbonation.
Drinkability- A extremely unique beer that is dessert like and perfect for exactly one glass. Anything more than that is a bit much and this whole growler probably won’t get finished. Gotta love the unique stuff that Short’s is putting out though. One of a kind. Thanks much Jeff!
