I received this one as an extra from Goliath, thanks again Brad! The pour filled my glass with a rusty brown liquid with moderate haziness. The head grew to one finger on the pour and quickly settled to a dusting of foam that leaves behind a patch of lacing here and there.

This beer throws off a lot of yeasty esters and I'm not fond of very many of them. Banana leads the way and it seems to be over ripened with an almost sour aroma rising from this brew. There's a lot of clove in the nose too, I've never been a big fan of clove bombs. Each swirl to bring the head back alive brings slight alcohol and borders on band-aid that hints at the first signs of infection.

Luckily the flavor is a step above the aroma. A caramel and bready maltiness adds a semi-sweet base for all the esters. Banana bread and clove are still the two most dominant but there are also signs of alcohol and some cinnamon-like spiciness. The flavor of this beer isn't all bad but the clove and banana are much too bold for my liking while the alcohol stands out a bit too much.

The mouthfeel seems a bit thin but overall works pretty well for the style. Soft carbonation keeps it moving slowly. The body just doesn't have any texture, it's odd.

This dark wheat isn't all that enjoyable of a brew so in turn it's not very drinkable. This is a beer that just doesn't work very well for me.

I enjoy all of Schlafly's brews I have had up to this point but this beer simply misses the mark. Wheat beers are hit or miss with me in the first place but this beer has a lot of everything I'm not that of in my wheat beers. Thanks for the sample Brad!

Reviewed this brew but pressed the wrong button and lost it.

Bottled 12/4/2009

Pours a hazy golden color with a nice off-white head that settles to leave a nice layer of foam on the top of the brew and a good bit of wispy lacing.

Smells of sweet malt with a nice caramel note and lots of yeasty notes. Bubblegum, spice, and fruit are most apparent.

Sweet malty body with plenty of wheat flavor. Touch of caramel blended with the wheat notes. Bubblegum, light spice and more fruit in the flavor. Easy drinking and very flavorful.
