12 oz bottle I received from a rep from Santa Fe Brewing. Served up in a pint glass.
A: Pours up a very dark brown, almost black body. Held to the light, the darker browns still come out along with some garnet hues. Although very dark, the body appears to be clear. The pour got me over two fingers of biege foam. Lacing is minimal but retention is pretty good.
S: The aroma starts with nice and roasty malt. Chocolaty malts for sure, sweet but not overly aggressive. There is a light tart cherry note but very minimal. that is backed up with just a touch of campfire. This rounds out with a touch of caramel and coffee.
T: The flavor is much lighter than the aroma. Mostly brings forth some very roasty malt presence. Chocolate mostly with some caramel notes and just a touch of ash. There is just a bit of dark fruit but very minimal. A bit of bitter, dark coffee rounds things off.
M: On the light side of medium in body with a moderate carbonation. ABV is non-existent. The beer is lightly sweet on the palate and coats just a bit. Aftertaste is all chocolate and campfire.
OA: Quite tasty. Pretty straight forward porter that has a substantial amount flavor and aroma going for it. It is by no means over the top or pushing the envelope, but it is simply a solid beer. Nothing wrong with that and I could easily drink this all day. Tasty stuff.
