Served up on cask in a .5L Mug Club mug.
A deep jet black with a matte finish and several fingers of thick creamy tan foam atop. The foam settles a bit and leaves the wanna of the mug coated in thick layers of sticky lace.
Smells of smooth vanilla, toasty malt and milk chocolate along with hints of cream and a touch of bourbon. Coffee and light toffee are also present.
Smooth like velvet on the tongue. Lightly roasted malt sweetness along with a smooth chocolate malt flavor glide over the tongue. Natural vanilla is balanced nicely and doesn't overpower like it does in so many brews. Coffee and a touch of burnt malt astringency make a short appearance. Touch of milky cream before the aftertaste with a nice sweetness. Just a touch of oak and bourbon on the aftertaste along with a chocolately note.
Smooth, very full flavored yet light enough in body to drink a couple. Well done.
