12 oz bottle out of a four pack I picked up at Tower Beverage in Atlanta, GA. Served up in a Terrapin pint glass. Been intrigued by this one, lets do it.

A: Pours a really dark, almost black color. Really deep brown color lets little light through. When held to a bright light, a nice mahogany color with nice deep garnet reds coming out at the top and bottom of the pour. A really nice tan head comes in at about a finger, but it doesn't hold very well. Head falls to a thin white ring with a coin of foam floating in the center of the glass. What foam is there creates some decent brown lace on the glass. Pretty decent looking porter.

S: Well, the smell is . . . how do I put this . . . WEAK! Get just a touch of dry oatmeal and a bit of bitter black coffee. That's it. I want to say some chocolate is sitting in there with the coffee smells, but I am not getting too much. A bit disappointing and I may have been generous by giving it a score of 3.

T: Taste makes up for it in a big way. Really nice, chunky oatmeal flavors come out first and foremost. Then there are some nice coffee and cream flavors. This tastes like breakfast. There is also on the finish a really nice milk chocolate flavor that really sits in the aftertaste. Very rich chocolate flavor. Very nice flavors, but it would be nicer if the malts and hops came out a bit more. Even though, damned tasty.

M: Medium to full in body with a really nice richness. Really nice creaminess to it that really seems to help the creamy flavors going on in there. ABV is low and really doesn't bring any heat to the palate at all. Aftertaste is just a really nice milk chocolate that sits on the palate and engulfs it.

D: Very nice porter. Yeah, it has a bit of a sweetness to it, but I don't think they went overboard. The bitterness from the coffee and I imagine from some dark chocolate, really keeps the sweetness in check. ABV is low enough so you can easily drink a couple of these in a sitting. Really nice brew from Atlanta Brewing. Enjoyable and will buy again, nice that it is a regular, year around brew now.
