8oz. pour at the Whip-In, Austin.

Lost Gold is a beauty of an IPA, with a massive tuft of eggshell white head that sticks around for the duration of the drink, eventually forming a biscuit-shaped dollop of foam in the center of the glass. The body is clear, with a golden-straw hue and no visible signs of carbonation. Aromatically, this IPA hits all the style requirements, and then some. Juicy citrus hops and minty grasses dazzle the nose, while a backbone of pale malts provides a tantalizing hint of sweetness.

The flavor ain't half bad either. And by that, I mean to say this beer is one of the best IPA's I've tried in quite some time. Starting off with a quick burst of grapefruit and tangerine, the hops shift gears on the back of the palate to lay down a bitter bite of pine and herbal resins. Pale malts balance the flavor throughout, adding a nice, crisp sweetness to the experience. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium, nicely carbonated, and refreshingly juicy for the style, making this one of the more drinkable of Texas' IPA's. Real Ale hit it out of the park with this beer.
