Inky black, with a thin dark tan head. Quickly dissipated to almost nothing.Smells of oatmeal (expected), with a lot of roasty chocolate. Very nice.
First taste follows the nose. Lots of good oatmealy malt flavor, backed by a nice smoky, roasty bitter chocolate, finishing with a bit of a coffee flavor and dryness.
Chewy, with just enough carbonation. Crisp, dry finish that whets your mouth for more.
I loved this one. I think the oatmeal worked really well with a porter style, as opposed to trying to fight against the stronger stout. May I have another?
