500ml Bottle
Different bottle than in picture. Blue and black label with a long neck.
Baltika 6 poured black with a 1+ finger tan creamy head. Opaque except when held to the light there are some mahogany highlights around the sides and bottom of the glass.
Smell is a lot different than I thought it was going to be for whatever reason. It smells of molasses, dark fruits (plum) and some dark roasted malts. The molasses comes through the strongest. Smells pretty good.
The taste is good. I thought it may have been to sweet from the smell but it's not. The taste comes through as dark fruits up front gollowed by roasted malts. A touch of sweetness follows at the end with a nice aftertaste. Slight bitterness even things out nicely. The sweetness increases as the beer warms.
Mouthfeel is good on here as well. It's got a medium-heavy body that coats nicely. Slick feeling as I sip. Coats my throat. Smooth.
Drinkability is above average. It would be a little higher except for the sweetness. A couple of these would be more than enough.
Overall Baltika 6 is a good porter. Good flavors with a good mouthfeel. Good drink to warm up with. I'll be drinking again in the future.
