This pours an opaque black body with a thin cream tan head. The aroma of fresh oak and patchouli is otherwise pretty clean with some dark geosmin on the exhale. The taste has some soft dry caramel flavors with an earthy hint and a patchouli finish. There is some buckwheat honey flavors that come through as it opens up. Also some licorice character in the finish the grows sweeter as it opens but never becomes cloying. A roasted malt note lingers in the aftertaste but stays soft. The medium mouthfeel finishes without any alcohol heat.

This is an interesting beer with some quirky flavor but they are not offensive and grow on me as I keep drinking or perhaps it is the alcohol working.

Served In: Tulip
