Dark, nearly opaque, but slips some light in and has a muted low glow of mahogany tinted brown. Dark beige crown of thick firm sudsy foam grows to just over a finger high to flow down to a heavy skim and collar. Snow globe patchy lacing coats the goblet very well.
Aroma is soft and a bit light but seemingly complex in a favorable thick fruit breadyness with black cherry, brown sugar, banana, and a bit of dull orange laced with gingerbread spice, vanilla, and clove.
Nice tone of dark dulled tangy fruits and bready candyishness. Raisin, black cherry, vanilla, toffee, then some lofty caramel seeps in lightly underneath as lightly, well placed nuances to clove spice, banana, and yeast pull into the finish with a coating of dryish pep and a layer of dark candied yeast.
Firm, smooth medium body, with a semi creamy tang of dark fruityness pulling most of the weight while a smaller tone of yeasty spice, candy, and dryness take the remainder of the chcaracter over into the finish. Quite balanced and the overall tang is very well controlled and easy on the palate.
This will age nicely. A keeper in the Unplugged series from New Glarus.
