22 oz bottle I picked up from Hop City in Atlanta. Served up in a tulip.

A: Pours up an almost black, very dark brown body. I can only tell it is brown where a little bit of light is pushing through at the top of the glass. Otherwise, pretty much opaque. Pour got me a half finger or so fo tan, creamy head. It falls pretty quickly but keeps a pretty thick ring. Touches of lace on the glass.

S: You can definitely get the tartness in the nose. Picking up on a sequence of smells that can only be described as dark cherries reducing in balsamic vinegar. Slight note of milk chocolate, but thats about it. Very nice and fragrant.

T: The flavor shifts more into the realm of a stout. Getting lots of coffee and sweet chocolate notes. Vanilla pushes through. This shifts into some tart cherry and balsamic vinegar. Was hoping for more of this after it being so big in the nose. Still it has some nice things going for it, but then again it can be kinda taken as a stout that got infected. I prefer not thinking of it that way.

M: Medium body with a lighter carbonation. This makes for a weird feel, it is creamy and tart. Acidic. It's just all over the place. Little bit of ABV heat coming out in the throat. Aftertaste is a bit of that lingering tart cherry.

OA: Not bad. Its tasty but I kind of wish the flavor was closer to the nose. The coffee really dominates the flavor. Although it is nice, it doesn't really mesh well with the tartness in my opinion. With that said, its not a chore to drink and this is actually the second time I've had it. I would have it again just to wrap my head around all the stuff going on in here. Not bad.

Served In: Tulip
