Taken from notes. Had this one on draft at First Street Draught House in Winston-Salem. This is a kickass, vintage diner type bar with good food and a pretty nice tap list. Since I am whore for a good Kolsch, I saw it on the board and it was a no brainer. Served up in a nonic.

A: Pours up a darker shade of golden yellow with just a faint hue of orange. This one is completely clear with decent amount of carbonation mixing it up in there. The pour got a good finger and a half of pretty tight, white head. Head had really good retention, lasting almost the entire experience. It also had some stick to it and threw up some decent lace as well. All is well.

S: Smell was quite nice. It started off bready and lightly sweet from the malt and grains. The hops are nice and earthy/floral, damned beautiful. Things round off with just a little bit of sweet apple notes. It may seem simple, but it was damned nice.

T: Not much unlike the nose. The biggest difference is that the apple presence was a bit more pronounced. It was just a very clean, apple note that was leaning a bit to the sweet side. Hops provide some bitterness to kill a touch of that sweetness with a really nice floral note. A very light breadiness rounds everything out in the finish.

M: Light bodied with a medium carbonation. This beer did exactly what it was supposed to do. It was incredibly quenching due to its spot on dryness in the finish. ABV is nowhere to be found. Aftertaste is a touch of lingering apple and floral hops.

OA: Really great beer. Not too complicated but enough hops and flavor to remind you that you are drinking a really good beer. Went perfect with brunch and worked so well. I could drink this all day to be honest. After this, I am looking forward to tracking down more offerings from Mother Earth. Thumbsup so far.
