Pours a deep black with a finger of light brown foam with thick dense bubbles. The foam settles after a minute and leaves the walls of the goblet coated in a layer of tiny bubbly lacing and a small layer coating the top of the beer.
Rich chocolatey aroma with nice light sweetness. Light caramel, hint of roasted malt, touch of port wine and a hint of oak. Some charred malt comes through also along with deep toffee aroma. Mmmm, sweet charr. Nice very light winey fruitiness.
Super smooth like velvet. Roasty malt body with lots of chocolate mixed with charred malt. Medium sweetness with light toffee and coffee. Fruity notes from the port with a touch of light berry sweetness. As the beer warms the port barrel notes come out a bit more. Still not overly powerful in this big Baltic Porter but definitely there. Slightly fizzy medium carbonation pops on the tongue and helps to bring out some of the dark malt flavors nicely.
