First beer I had at the new Townhall taphouse. Served to me in a full 16oz nonic pint glass. Very nice!
Appearance- Pours a light brownish ruby with a nice one finger light tan head that has some serious staying power. A thick collar throughout with a nice cap but somehow no lacing remains.
Smell- A nice roasty malt and coffee scent waft beautifully from the glass. A lightly sweet toffee thing sort of shows as well. Actually has more of a Brown Ale scent with a touch of nuttiness. Reminds me slightly of Coffee Benders nose.
Taste- Nice fresh coffee aspect really dominates from the start with a perfect raw nutty bite. A touch of roast sneaks in but nothing that really resembles chocolate or the dark toast you'd expect from a Porter. Perhaps the lightest touch of pine from a kiss of hops in the finish but it's very light. The finish is smooth and full of coffee.
Mouthfeel- Medium to light body with a soft prickly carbonation.
Drinkability- Love this one. Perhaps it's a bit mute for a Porter but everything works great together. The coffee is nice and rich and really stands out. Great first beer to break in the taphouse!
