Thanks to Tip Top for the growler!

Pours a dark copper, almost brown hue (the closest I can come is Ford paint color Ginger Glow) with a thin but persistent white head. Aroma is redolent of whiskey barrel but also has a neat funky sort of tang to it - not "beer out too long" sour tang but a "something fun in the barrel" dusky sort of tang. Black cherries in the distance.

Incredibly complex flavor - all kinds of things going on here. The initial hit is a moderate dark brown ale with earthy hop maltiness, with wisps of aromatic spiciness. Distant whiff of maple syrup adds a hint of initial smokiness. Then the barrel arrives - whiskey and faint vanilla, and then a tart dark cherry like fruitiness kicks in and every taste bud in your mouth is occupied. Whiffs of alcohol are supersaturated with these flavors so your nose is happy as well. The barrel flavors linger at the end, with a whiskey-smoky, sweet-tart cherry, spicily aromatic flavor that's quite addictive. Moderate mouthfeel adds to the drinkability. It's taken me two pints to figure it out and I still don't know that I've described it entirely. Just a fascinating brew.
