Saturday morning on Christmas Eve enjoying a few beers. Literally just me and a couple people who work here. Drank from a generic pint glass.
Appearance- Pours a lightly hazy yellowish orange with a nice one finger bright white head. A spotty cap and collar remains along with plenty of ring like lacing.
Smell- No doubt about the Simcoe in this little guy. Piney with hints of citrus that is reminiscent of cantaloupe and pineapple. Slightly earthy with maybe a lightly grassy scent but it's light and fleeting. Nice nose that really accentuates the hops well.
Taste- Surprisingly earthy start with a very piney sort of raw bitterness. Not as fruity as the nose would suggest but there is a light bit of grapefruit pith flavor in here. I'm searching for some malt in the background but I can't seem to find any. It’s so light and crackery there isn't anything in here but hoppy goodness.
Mouthfeel- Light wispy body with a nice zippy bite of carbonation.
Overall - Awesome beer. This is one of those brews that you could plop down in the couch and drink all day. It’s hoppy and yummy but light enough to be easily quaffed. Enjoyed this beer again this year – very much.
Pours a hazy yellow with a finger of thick off-white head. The foam settles a bit and leaves some sticky lacing on the glass.
Big Simcoe hop aroma. Lots of citrus with pine and apple coming through nicely. Just a bit of malt sweetness comes through in an attempt to balance things.
Smooth malty body with a nice mouthfeel from the oats. Some dry sweetness before the hops take center stage. Piney hops wih subdued bitterness. Apple and a touch of lemon too. Easy drinking brew for the hophead.
