A big thank you goes out to the Man, the Myth, the Legend, AKBelgainBeast for this bottle in a past monster trade, you are a gentleman and a scholar! I shared this bottle with some good people last night. Uranus has a polished copper body on the pour but when backlit shows off a glowing bright golden hue. A clean white head grows to one finger on the pour showing both good retention and drink lines as the liquid disappears.

The nose on this beer is insanely complex, almost dizzyingly so. Wet soil and rock minerals are first to jump forward until Matt mentions creamed corn. I have to smile 'cause he's exactly right. A Sweet Tart sweet tartness plays it role as the malt base. There's some spice that includes cinnamon along with some funky blue cheese. Slight medicinal qualities and a hefty helping of barnyard funkadelics round out the nose on this particularly complex brew.

I was afraid the slightly busy nose would translate badly into the flavor but the profile actually steps it up. Band-aid and gauze sterile properties combine with well integrated mineral characteristics, like the aforementioned wet rock. Barnyard funk and lemon drop tartness roll through mid-palate with a small sprinkling of cinnamon. A quick flash of Sweet Tart sweetness flashes through on the swallow before a nearly mouth puckering dryness takes over.

The mouthfeel is spot on. The body leans toward the lighter side of medium and lively carbonation makes for a nice airy feel. Like I mentioned above the finish is superbly dry and leaves me wanting more after each swig.

For being such a complex brett bomb this beer goes down surprisingly easy. The lemon drop tartness sure helps with the drinkability and the body also lends a much needed helping hand.

I'm glad I got the opportunity to give this beer a go 'round. Uranus is in a similar vein to the De Proef Flemish Primitive series with all the funk qualities and just a touch of sour. Thanks again for the bottle Frank, save me another!
