Thanks go to AKBelgianBeast for this one!

The label doesn't lie... it's black! Quite black at that... I have seen Stouts that are not as dark as this, no amber highlights... nothing. Interesting. One finger of creamy mocha colored head rises to it's peak, and then settles to an impressive collar/thin cap. Carbonation ringlets are scattered about this thin cap, suggesting that this sucka' has some quite active carbonation on the rise within - again, this should be telling of the darkness of this, as one can not see what is happening in there.
Spotty lacing.

Aroma is of grapefruit and pine resin, yes, very heavy on the pine resin. Sweet licorice and caramel come next, along with a heavy handed aroma of roasted malts. Malt forward here.

The taste is VERY interesting. Very hop-forward at first, with the aforementioned grapefruit and pine resin suggested by the aroma making themselves noticed.... oh yeah. Very bitter. This then almost instantly segues into a smokey, heavily roasted malts experience that transcends into something very unique and new to me - a combination I had never thought I would experience... and it works! Bitter and burnt - that's the best way to describe this.

Medium in body, sticky, syrupy yet abrasive (!) mouthfeel. VERY dry towards and through the finish... the dryness can be felt on the teeth. Carbonation is very good for this...DIPA. A good amount of boozy warmth (I would like to see a touch more ABV here - but that's me).

I have never had a BDIPA before... a new style listing should be in order here shortly on BA, as this is quite good! A good sipper, more than likely not for everyone - but if you like bitter and bold flavor, aggressive hops and deeply roasted malts - this should be on your list!
Frank, you always send good stuff! Cheers!
Highly Recommended!
