Big thanks to my buddy Peter Kay for this long time want of mine.

The lighter color of this beer threw me off at first, I had to recheck the bottle to make sure I read "Doppelbock". It poured out a hazy medium chestnut/amber hue, with very minimal head. What did surface disappeared into just a white ring within a few moments.

Maybe the rum from the barrels played a part in the presentation, it sure smells like I'm ready for an island vacation. I honestly am searching even at the end of the bottle for something else besides the rum. Nope.

Only a little bit of carbonation, the slight sour tones I'm getting actually tickle my throat more. Maybe I'm just telling myself I don't really think it's sour because I'm so grateful to have had it. It finishes really dry, the rum coats the mouth and sticks around for awhile.

It was a chore to finish, but Adam and I split it like champs. I don't know if the base beer was an issue from the start, or if the barrels were way too wet, or yes. In a blind taste I never would mark this a doppelbock. Ooooh yeah let's not forget, it's 10% and not going to let you forget that. Another MS knocked off the list, but finishing easily last.
